Shimokitazawa is a small town about 10 minutes from Shibuya by train. It is considered one of the hippest areas in Tokyo and has a very retro feel to it. In addition to used CD/record stores, it has a fair number of “vintage” clothing stores, live venues and cheap bars and restaurants. Unfortunately, it’s being carved up in the name of progress and you’ll notice a fair bit of construction around the station.
